A Correction: I Wasn't at The Rift

In July I previewed The Rift in Iceland and said I'd be on the start line on the 18th. I wasn't. A short correction so the site doesn't imply otherwise.

A Correction: I Wasn't at The Rift

A correction. On 8 July I published a preview of The Rift in Iceland and told you I’d be racing it on the 18th. I wasn’t there. The race went ahead as planned — 140 kilometres, 200 kilometres, and a new 330-kilometre ultra, all on 18 July at Þórsmörk — and I’m not in any of the results.

Instead I spent that weekend at 3RIDES in Winterberg, Germany: a time trial on the Friday, 103 kilometres on the Saturday and 122 on the Sunday, and sixth place on general classification. That’s covered properly in the 3RIDES post.

Why I’m Writing This

I’m leaving the July preview up, because it’s an honest record of what I was thinking and looking forward to at the time and I don’t think deleting things is a good habit for a blog. But a preview that promises a start line I never stood on is misleading if it’s the last thing on the subject.

So: I didn’t ride The Rift in 2026. The calendar changed, and 3RIDES is what happened instead. If I get to Iceland, I’ll tell you.
